Ovex® contains mebendazole 100mg, a highly effective anthelmintic medication used to treat threadworm (pinworm) infections. It works by preventing the worms from absorbing glucose, causing them to die naturally within a few days.
Ovex is a single-dose treatment that’s easy to take and suitable for the whole family.
What Does Ovex Treat?
Ovex is used for the treatment of:
Threadworm (pinworm) infections
Symptoms such as:
Itchy bottom (especially at night)
Disturbed sleep
Visible worms in stools or around the anus
It works by inhibiting the worms’ ability to absorb glucose, effectively killing them within days of taking the dose.
Who Is Ovex Suitable For?
Adults and children aged 2 years and over
Those experiencing symptoms of threadworms
Households where one member has a confirmed infection
Not suitable if you:
Are allergic to mebendazole or other ingredients
Are pregnant or breastfeeding (seek advice first)
Have a history of liver problems (consult your GP)
How to Take Ovex
Take one tablet or 5ml of liquid as a single dose
Repeat after 2 weeks if reinfection is likely
All household members should be treated at the same time
Maintain strict hygiene to prevent reinfection
Tablets should be chewed or crushed; liquid is suitable for children
Possible Side Effects
Ovex is generally well tolerated. Side effects may include:
Abdominal pain or discomfort
Diarrhoea or flatulence
Rash or skin irritation (rare)
Allergic reaction (very rare – stop use if this occurs)
